Nominations for officers and stewards will take place at the April 2019 Unit meetings.
As part of the April Unit meeting, under new business, the Unit Chair will accept nominations for the following Local Union Officers and Steward recommendations:
-President
-Vice President
-Recording Secretary
-Treasurer
-Business Manager & Financial Secretary (delegate to convention)
-Executive Board Member/Unit Chairperson (1 from each of the 8 Units)
-Vice Unit Chairperson/Unit Recorder (1 from each of the 8 Units)
-Delegate to the International Convention (4 delegates & 2 Alternates)
(August 30 to September 3, 2021 in Chicago, IL)
-Chief Steward (1 from each sub unit)
Members from one Unit may nominate someone from another Unit for the positions of President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Business Manager & Financial Secretary, and Delegate to the International Convention at any of the 8 meetings. For the positions of Executive Board Member/Unit Chairperson, Vice Unit Chairperson/Unit Recorder and Chief Steward, you need to be nominated during the particular Unit meeting that the position is included. If a member is placing the name of another member in nomination and the member is not present, the person making the nomination will provide the Vice Unit Chairperson/Unit Recorder evidence in writing, signed by the nominee, that the nominee agrees to be a candidate for the position.
A person nominated for President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Business Manager & Financial Secretary, Executive Board Member/Unit Chairperson cannot be a candidate for more than one of these positions. If nominated for more than one of these positions, the nominee must signify their intentions at the time of nomination for which position they will be a candidate. A person nominated for Business Manager & Financial Secretary or as a Delegate to the International Convention must choose which nomination they will accept as you cannot be a candidate for both positions. A person nominated for the position of Executive Board Member/Unit Chairperson or Vice Unit Chairperson/Unit Recorder cannot be nominated for both positions.
No member shall be eligible for office unless he/she has been a member of Local Union 965 in continuous good standing for at least two (2) years immediately prior to the nomination except for Cheif Steward, which requires six (6) months prior to nomination. The person that is selected as Chief Steward will have their name recommended to the Business Manager for consideration as Chief Steward.
Elections will take place by mailed ballot in June 2019.
