Membership in IBEW Local 965
To become a member of IBEW Local Union 965, you need to be hired by one of the companies or municipalities with which we currently hold a contract: Alliant Energy, Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative, Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative, Everbrite, Richland Center Electric Cooperative, Rock Energy Cooperative, and Union Financial Group.
We do not have an apprenticeship program through our local, and we do not have books to sign for work.
If you come to IBEW Local Union 965 from another IBEW Local, you will need to get a Traveling Card from your previous local if you are a member in good standing. To do so, simply contact your previous local to have a Traveling card sent to you to be signed and then either send the Traveling card directly to our union office or give the Traveling card to the Lead Steward at your work location. We ask that you still fill out the on-line application.
All new members will need to fill out some paperwork. Please click on the Electronic New Member Sign-up link to fill out new member paperwork.

1. Contact Information: Please use your personal cell phone number and personal email address for this section. We want to ensure that we can reach you easily and keep you informed about union updates, contract updates, events, and opportunities.
2. Classification: Please indicate your job title. This information helps us understand the diverse range of skills and expertise within our local, allowing us to better serve our members.
3. Industry: Please select "UTILITY" as your industry. This choice accurately reflects the sector in which we operate and allows us to tailor our support and representation to your specific needs.
4. How did you become an IBEW member? Please select "I am a new hire." If you are joining us from another IBEW local, we kindly request that you reach out to your old local and request a travel card, but you should still complete this form. You can also reach out to the union office with questions about that process. This ensures we can update your membership seamlessly and provide any necessary assistance.
At IBEW 965, we take immense pride in representing over 1,000 members across multiple employers, including more than 800 individuals at Alliant Energy. Since our union's establishment in Beaver Dam in 1937, we have tirelessly fought for improved working conditions and benefits for our members. This legacy of advocacy and solidarity spans over 85 years, and we are honored to continue building upon it and having you be a part of it.
